Halikunas is located on Lake Korission (salt water). The sandy beach is 3 km long. You will find shopping facilities in the nearest village of Agios Mattheos or Messonghi area, which are approximately 5 km away.
The magnificent Castle at Gardiki although partially demolished has a distinct Byzantine feature that pervades the entire edifice.
One can view the castle right from the entrance of Gardiki village. Renowned scholars of Corfu equate this marvelous Castle with the magnificent Angelokastro Fort. This is primarily because of the fact that the castle was built during the same period and what is more, by the same Archbishop.
The castle is conspicuous by its octagonal shape and an ellipsoidal attachment. The bordering parapets were adorned
with traditional Byzantine artworks. The vestiges that one can see on the right hand side of the main entrance are believed to belong to the in-house chapel.
The castle’s idyllic location in the picturesque village of Gardiki due south of the island, in close proximity to the village of Agios Matthaeos attracts hordes of tourists every year.
The castle is renowned for its impregnable fortifications that defended the residents of Corfu on numerous occasions from the marauding and all conquering enemies.
In the present times, one must admit that its ramparts are impeccably preserved and it is a sheer delight just to visit the castle, though the castle is partially destroyed.
Apart from the principal castle, there are numerous other ancient edifices strewn around the castle’s surrounding areas, and each one unique in their architectural features. The fact that the castle is nestled in the midst of verdant Olive groves, imparts a touch of ethereal beauty to the castle’s surroundings.

The villa Saia is situated on the southwest wonderful coasts of Corfu and at the north part of Korrision Lake. To the kilometers long sandy beach of Chalikouna is about 5 minutes walking. The 2 bed rooms Poolvilla Saia with nice seaview consists of 2 seperated bedrooms (one double and one twin) for 4-5 persons, livingroom-kitchen- Sat-TV –DVD-player , WC/bath, 2 air conditions, washmashine, dishwasher, BBQ, veranda with seaview, garden's table, enough chairs for 6 persons, garden with sun beds / umbrella and private 40qm new pool. The Poolvilla Saia is very quiet and you can have very relaxing holidays. At the area of Chalikouna and in about 10-15 minutes walking distance you can reach 3 difference Tavernas, a mini market is also in about 2km away, for bigger shopping , Pharmacy, bank automat and souvenir shops you can find in Messonghi or Moraitika also for night life or in agios Matheos village both are about 5km away! The Corfu town, the airport and the port is about 24km away. Other beaches in the near area are, the Kanouli beach in 3km, the Prasudi and Skidi beach in 4km away.
